ITECO-ABUS crane production and recovery is not everything... safe transportation is important

It is important not only to correctly design, manufacture, revive a modern crane, but also to safely transport it to its destination. The production of cranes takes place at sites tens to hundreds of kilometers away from the place of their work deployment. ITECO has been on the market of handling equipment with its cranes for 30 years this year. They find a place in the production halls, where the largest loads are transported. They serve production facilities both individually and, for example, coupled into a pair with continuous lifting of loads. What is a bridge crane? Welded steel beams, which are equipped with treads, hoists and other equipment, necessary for safe and high-quality operation. However, the basis is a large steel beam, sometimes even several tens of meters long. And this needs to be transported from the ABusV production hall in Gummersbach, Germany, to its destination in the Czech Republic or Slovakia.

Transportation of cranes and their components

‍In this part of the article we will mention precisely the specifics of transportation. Recently, three bridge cranes with a length of 40 meters and a carrying capacity of 10 tons were transported to the Czech Republic. The cranes, together with the accessories, had to be moved from Gummersbach in Germany to Prostějov in Moravia. The cargo traveled almost 1,000 kilometers in its journey. Transport was in charge of a specialized freight forwarding company, engaged in the transportation of oversized cargoes. The route of travel of this long establishment ran in the night hours, mostly along the highway. The cranes crossed the Czech border in Rozvadov and continued past Prague and on to Moravia. The parameters of the transport in the Czech Republic fall under the framework of oversized truck transport, which requires a special permit issued by the Ministry of Transport of the Czech Republic, as well as the accompaniment of a vehicle with an orange beacon. The forwarding company must be perfectly prepared with the width and height of the rigs for the parameters of the chosen route, but also deal with the limits of the premises at the manufacturer's location and the destination of the transport. With a crane, it is quite clear how much the beams weigh and the forwarder knows exactly the limits, for example, for crossing bridges. However, even so, the transportation of such long loads is difficult.

In particular, these bridge cranes are single-girder ELV, ELK, ELS and two-girder ZLK up to a maximum load capacity of 120 tons. There are also DLVM and EDL overhead cranes. At the same time, ABUS single girder bridge cranes are individually adapted to spatial and local conditions with their special mounting options and achieve the highest lifting height possible with their advantageous design dimensions. The bridge of ABUS ELV single-girder bridge crane consists of a rolled profile beam, a single-girder bridge crane ELK and an ELS rigid welded box beam. Double Girder Overhead Cranes

For example, it is possible to simply realize higher crane speeds, to add maintenance bridges to the bridge and to the crane cat or to add an additional, auxiliary lift. Two are stronger than one, which is why ABUS two-girder bridge cranes are designed to transport large loads up to 120 tonnes. Like all ABUS indoor cranes, these can be perfectly integrated into planned or already existing indoor structures on the basis of various mounting options, with a permanent guarantee of high functionality, flexibility and comfort in operation. In addition, the ABUS accessories program offers a number of special equipment for special solutions. ZKL two-girder cranes are supplied in welded box girders. All profiles of main bridges and crossbars are computer-optimised to combine maximum performance and minimum own weight. These are advantages that pay off financially.
