Cranes for handling extremely large parts

MCE Slany, s.r.o.
Two 50t bridge cranes with two cats 32t + 32t and one crane 25t with auxiliary lift 5t.
Both cranes with a bridge carrying capacity of 50 tons are equipped with two cats with a carrying capacity of 32 tons. These cats are secured by an overload member, which constantly compares the load of the two hooks. If there is an excess of 32 tons on one of the hooks, the system of the device will automatically shut down.
Reserve incurred oversizing the carrying capacity of cats covers the risks associated with the displacement of the centre of gravity between a pair of hinges during the rotation of the part. The center of gravity of the part is never exactly in the middle between the points at which the part is tied, and during its rotation there is a redistribution of forces between the individual hinges.
Previously, our design department had to work out a detailed technological procedure for tying loads, deploying hanging meshes and creating a drawing of individual positions with respect to the location of the center of gravity before each manipulation. It was virtually impossible to read the center of gravity directly from 2D drawings. We were so forced to create ahead of time Spatial model of a part in AutoCAD and only then subtract the center of gravity from it. This was highly professional and very time-consuming 3D work. Oh, thanks overdimensioning the carrying capacity of cats by about 30% we solved this problem gracefully.
Another technical specialty of these two cranes is their master-slave mode affinity. This means that one crane controls both cranes at the same time, and the controls on the operator's side are also adapted to this. Transmitters are equipped with a special switch. With a single controller, you control the device Four hookswhich performs as synchronous movements (for example, all hooks up, all hooks down), so also offers the possibility rotation of the load — a pair of hooks moves while the other pair of hooks remains standing, both in the longitudinal and transverse directions.
