S.O.K. construction, s.r.o.

S.O.K., s.r.o. is a modern construction company founded in 1991 in Třebíč. Its main activities include the construction of complete agricultural and industrial buildings, the manufacture and assembly of steel structures, and the production of prefabricated elements. The company is also engaged in the construction of prefabricated houses and apartment buildings throughout the Czech Republic.

S.O.K., s.r.o. is a stable company with a solid market position and a good reputation not only in the Czech Republic but also in Slovakia. It currently employs more than 270 workers and is constantly growing and developing. In this report, we will describe the application of new overhead cranes to existing production premises, where they have been manufactured and handled for several years. Our operation was led by Ing. Radek Karasek.

Everyone has needs and dreams. The family yearns for their own housing, the farmer for a functioning, modern economy, the owner of a production company for a hall where he can realize his production. The purpose of S.O.K. construction is to help meet the needs and fulfill the dreams of customers in the field of housing and business, respecting the trends of today. S.O.K.'s vision is to increase the availability of housing for the widest possible range of customers, while still expanding the range of services with an emphasis on innovation and friendliness.

Modern company bets on innovation

At S.O.K. Construction, they are intensively dedicated to building new products and finding new ways. It is not impossible to make houses like on a treadmill; in this company it is a real state of affairs. The company is divided into several operations and in the article we will deal with handling in the prefabricated parts production department, whose head is Mr. Karásek.

Recently, in the world of construction technology, prefabrication of concrete structures has taken a big step forward. The modern equipment of the Třebíč company S.O.K. Construction makes it possible to produce parts with dimensional accuracy and surface flatness exceeding the requirements of the standards. The goal is to produce prefabricated products in the most finished design and readiness right in the hall. So that there is as little work as possible left on the construction itself. As stated by Mr. Karásek: “We focus on better preparation of panels for final assembly at the customer's premises, i.e. insulated, fully fitted prefabricated panels with windows, doors, wiring and insulation are removed from production, so that only assembly takes place on the construction and the largest amount of work is done in our halls, where we have guaranteed quality working environment, which in most cases cannot be guaranteed on construction sites.” Thanks to the mentioned quality preparation, installers are able to complete the rough construction of the house from the panels within one week.

Handling in operation PREFA

PREFA's operations are dominated by family construction, realized from our products. The development of the company required the expansion of production facilities, so in 2015 new halls for the operation of prefabricated parts were put into operation. The construction was carried out under the direction of the staff of the Development and Development Department, of which Mr. Karásek had previously been a part. Previously, the panels were produced in a reduced production, now S.O.K. in Třebíč is concluding the second phase of the development of the project and in the future they are considering a third stage of construction of additional premises.

The production halls are new buildings, which are now being expanded and fitted with a more efficient and productive semi-automatic line for the production of prefabricated structures. These halls were already fitted with several bridge cranes in 2015. In the first stage of the expansion of the production premises, the halls were equipped with cranes from the supplier, who then won the tender, in which ITECO entered the narrowest selection with the offer in 2015.

Manipulation needed strengthening

The current production of concrete in S.O.K. construction amounts to about 5,000 m³ per year. The current production required strengthening of the handling process, so it was decided to invest in further craning. Again, major suppliers of crane systems were approached. The demand lasted about seven months and the decision-making was very complex. It was mainly important to adapt the equipment of the new bridge cranes to the current operator, for example by standardizing the controls in the form of identical controls for older and new cranes. Likewise, it was necessary to adapt the power supply to the cranes from the already installed closed trolleys. The preparation, production, assembly and recovery of new cranes by ITECO ABUS have thus fully met the customer's requirements, and since this year the new cranes have strengthened the precise and precise handling of heavy loads.

6 New Bridge Cranes for S.O.K. Construction

altogether six new bridge cranes ITECO ABUS significantly accelerated and improved the handling in S.O.K. Five cranes are in operation in PREFA and one in the hall of steel structures. With a new production line to produce prefabricated panels, S.O.K. wants to get up to three times current production and even another double in the future. Today, in operation, PREFA handles loads ranging from several hundred kilograms to loads weighing 12 tons. The finished armokosh weighs about 300 kg, the packages with reinforcement and curry nets weigh around 2.5 tons. When concreting, workers handle 4-ton loads, at the end of production they have prefabricated around 12 tons. With the installation of new ITECO ABUS cranes, production has been multiplied.

And the specifications of the delivery?

The order represented six pieces of overhead cranes of type ZLK and ELK with carrying capacities of 10 and 12.5 tons. These were delivered and put into operation on already fitted crane tracks, which also serve previously delivered cranes. The span of the delivered cranes is in lengths of 22.9, 23.7 and 25.4 meters. Control of the cranes is provided by push-button radio remote controls HBC Radiomatic and independent backup controllers. The lifting gear is a crane cat with a low construction height and a rope, finished with a simple hook. Bridge cranes have high usability even in low halls. Cranes guarantee optimal material flow even in production halls and warehouses, whose spaces provide little space for crane systems.
